House Guidelines

Age Restrictions For Construction Activitiy

Individuals under the age of 16 are generally not allowed on the construction site.

When appropriate and preapproved by the houseleader, and under the direct supervision of a responsible adult, those under the age of 16 are allowed to visit a site for the purpose of observing the progress of the work that has been accomplished and may participate in limited site cleanup. This may also include moving lumber.

Volunteers that are 16 and 17 years of age are permitted on the construction site and may do limited construction work, but they must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian and they must be accompanied by an adult (at least the first full day they work.) They are allowed to do general carpentry, but are not allowed to use any power tools or complete any tasks that require they be more than 6 ft. off the ground. They are not permitted to do roofing or excavation work of any kind.

Various civic/church groups that may be sponsoring the build or a related project such as building a birdhouse or picnic table for the future homeowner are welcome but the same guidelines apply. Anyone 18 years and older is considered an adult and may work on any of the various construction related job.
